And away we go......

I've recently been inspired by another family with triplets and their blog. (I highly recommend visiting http://amazingtrips.blogspot.com/) I am constantly asked, "How do you do it?" Well, here goes an attempt to provide people with glimpse into our crazy world......

This morning I'm reminded again of another triplet family who made a special wide stool for their bathroom sink. It allowed all three kids to stand at the sink at the same time. Sure would be nice.

The hand washing process before meals is tedious. I've taken to singing my own version of "Wade in the Water".

Hands in the Water,
Hands in the Water Joseph
Hands it the Water,
Mommy's gonna wash you in the Water.

My little boy he loves to eat.
Hands in the Water
He has big hands and big feet
Hands in the Water

I get Joe and Eve at the table, and miraculously by the time I get Faith there everyone's plate is still on the table. Rare.

The phone rings. It is Jim. He brought Lili to school today. She hasn't been in over a week due to illness and now doesn't want to go. Apparently her teacher had to pick her up and carry her against her will into class. She was crying. Jim almost cried. I feel like I'm going to be sick. Maybe this was the best thing to do, but we won't know until later. If it was, it was a good thing Jim was the one to drop her off. I couldn't have done it. If it wasn't we're in for more separation anxiety and tantrums. Parenthood. It just gets harder and more confusing. When they're in diapers you feed them, change them, bathe and dress them. All the right things to do. You never worry that it is the wrong choice. When they get older you wonder how many of your actions will cause them to need therapy as an adult, turn to drugs, etc. My friend Carol asked me yesterday, "Is motherhood all about the guilt?" Her child is 18 months. Yes, I told her, it is.

UPDATE: Okay, so maybe it was the best thing to do. Lili seems just fine. She did tell me she cried at school, but when I asked her if she had a good time, she replied, "Yup." Go figure.
