My Wild Card

When the triplets were first born, Eve quickly assumed the role of "the easy one". She ate well, tolerated the regular formula, slept like a log, and smiled pleasantly. Everyone wanted to have Eve for a feeding. I think Jim and I even forgot to feed her once in the night because she never made a peep!

I believe it was when she became mobile that Eve began to reveal herself as "non compliant". Let me say that she is a sweet child and could never be accused of being malicious. She just knows what she wants, and she wants it more than she wants your approval.

When you catch her doing something naughty and tell her, "No" or "Stop", she just continues on with her own agenda with renewed vigor. If the gate is left open she sneaks out. If she hears you in pursuit, she runs. If you leave something dangerous within reach, Eve will get it. If you fold clothes in her presence, she unfolds them. When you look away during mealtime, she dumps her yogurt on the table, then proceeds to smack the yogurt puddle with her hand, decorating the entire area in yogurt dots. Never leave Eve alone with a bottle or sippy cup in the living room. She loves to suck up the liquid and spit it into the carpet, toys, and the hinge of the superyard gate. (!?!?!!?! This makes us crazy.) In the bath, she pours the most water on the floor.

Ah, but that smile, and her belly laugh will melt your heart. She loves all soft and cuddly animals, especially her Pink Ponies. And she is so smart - noticing everything. Don't let her Scandinavian tongue fool you, she knows the score. If it is true that, "Well behaved women rarely make history", then Eve is destined for greatness.
