My day at the spa....

Well, not really the spa. Although for a mother of four small children who gets very little time to take care of herself, going to the dentist is a treat. You get to sit in a comfortable chair and have professionals care for you. Today I got a full set of x-rays and a cleaning, and it was more enjoyable than the one facial I had a few years back. (Honestly, steaming hot towels on your face? Exfoliate that makes your skin burn? Then they try to clean out your pores by squeezing bits of your face! Definitely not for me.) As a bonus, the oral surgeon was free so I went in for a consult about a small bump on my lip which appeared after accidentally biting my lip 6 months ago. Apparently you can block small salivary glands by chomping on them hard enough. Those lumps will not go away and must be removed. I wouldn't consider the oral surgery I had today to be pleasant, but I'm glad it is over.
Jim's mother (Lynn) and her husband Frank have been visiting since last Tuesday. They have been hard at work in our kitchen, spoiling us with excellent meals. I always request Lynn's risotto (honestly, I could eat it every day) and Frank's garlic broccoli. Our house never smells better than when they are visiting. Garlic, onions, fennel, oregano....mmmmmmm. Tonight Frank is fixing eggplant in my honor. I love fried eggplant, especially when it is slightly crispy, almost burnt.
Nana (Lynn) and Granddaddy (Frank) are great with the kids. Here are some pics from the past week.

Everyone wants to be chased!

Here they come!
