We just can't seem to catch a break here. Eve has a double ear infection and this cold is making her breathing difficult. We've had to increase breathing medications and number of treatments for both her and Faith. Today I picked up a second nebulizer so we might be able to get the babies in bed before 9:00 p.m. tonight!
Oh, and I have a lovely bruise on my lip from the oral surgery. I called to ask about it and the assistant said, "Wow, we've never seen that before."
?!?!?!?!?!?
After the procedure the doctor and his assistants kept remarking about how my lip was still blanched (white) from the anaesthetic, and how they'd never seen that last so long. The bruise which developed the next day is really dark, and I have to admit I was a bit worried they'd "killed" part of my lip. I think they were too because when the oral surgeon heard what was going on he insisted I come in as soon as possible.
Why do surgeons have to act like they're royalty? The guy saw me in the waiting area twice as he passed by to get a soda or something, and he didn't even register recognition. He just disappeared into his office until his assistant got me and summoned him. I wonder if that would have bothered me less if didn't look like he had just graduated from high school and had the mannerisms of a frat boy; too smart and cool for most, with a slight swagger and stance that made me picture him at a kegger. I was already unimpressed with him when one of the three stitches he put in came out before I even left the office. Also, I've never had a medical procedure, no matter how small, where they didn't send me home with some sort of written instructions like:
- for pain take 4oomg Motrin every 4 hours
- notify us if you develop a fever over 101 degrees
- you may experience some bruising
- call with any questions...., etc.
I didn't receive anything like that.
I mentioned this to the assistant and she got very defensive, pointing out that it was a minor procedure and she had given me their card with instructions to call if I had questions.
So, my lip isn't dead, and I'm grateful. My kids aren't hospitalized, and I'm grateful for that too. God is good.
Wow was this a cranky post! It must have been the fact that I was suffering from bronchitis,...but didn't yet know I was that sick. Mommy isn't supposed to get sick.

I remember that day at rehersal when you came in and said you had oral surgery and I couldnt believe it =). I'm very glad your lip isn't dead, Lauren, because that would make your singing sound just a little odd =).
